Position Description:

Customer service is provided to customers who ship and receive cargo by a Cargo Agent at the airport. An understanding of the latest industry trends and practices is required for this position. Ensuring all shipping and receiving needs are met in a timely and efficient manner is the responsibility of the Cargo Agent.

In order to answer customers’ questions and provide information about services, the Cargo Agent must be able to communicate effectively. Tracking shipments, providing accurate rates, and following up on customer concerns are some of the things this includes. The Cargo Agent needs to be knowledgeable about various types of cargo, be able to package items for shipment, and ensure that they conform to airline regulations.

The Cargo Agent needs to be proficient in computer systems and software used for cargo tracking, billing, and accounting. They need to be able to use these programs to enter data. The Cargo Agent needs to be able to process payments, prepare documentation, and provide customers with copies of documents.

The Cargo Agent needs to have strong organizational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time. The position requires the ability to lift heavy boxes and bags and maintain a clean and safe working environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
